On December 24, 1940, she married Alex Embry.  This union was blessed with 7 children: Sara Elizabeth Huguely, Delores Junette Dunn, Sandra O'Brien Harris, Maxine Yvonne (Roger) Hinton,  Alice Teresa (James) Harris, Judith Lynnette Embry, and Alex Embry, Jr.  They were also blessed with 12 grandchildren: Rose Michelle Dabney, Lisa Renee (Shawn) Donigan, James Stephan Embry, Ronda Tiffany (Reginald) Miller, Sheri Lynn (Jovan) Riley, Monica Yvette (John) Short, Marcus Neville Hinton, Terrence Lamar Harris, Byron Tennille (Kelly) Embry, Robyn Alexis Embry, Alvetta O'Brien Embry, and Maya Eugenia Hinton.  They were also blessed with 4 great-grandchildren before their passing: Courtney Nicole Miller, Cory Brenston Miller, Christopher Alexandre Dabney and Mychal McKinley Dabney.  Since their passing their line continues to grow with grandchildren, Derron O'Brien Powell (born the year of our father/grandfather's passing, Chanel Embry Bolton, Jaelyn Paige Embry, Topanga Karrington Miller, Shawnlon Malisa Joy Donnigan, Mercedes Breyanna Smith, Jordyn Lianne Embry,  Alexis Marie Embry, Kegan Cody Roark, Dominique Danielle riley and three great-great grandchildren, Christopher Alexandre Dabney, II,  Zechariah McKinley Dabney, and Elijah Powell.

She was very proud of her extended family, especially her nieces and nephews, her sister's Virginia's daugher,  Judy (Ron) Thigpenn, their children Jennifer, Jessica, and James, as well as her sister Shirley's children, Anita, Virgil, Cathy, James, Debra, Paul, Wallace, and Carey.

Although working diligently at many employers during her life, she retired from Eastern Kentucky University. She was a proud member of First Baptist Church, Richmond and the Latecomers Homemakers club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Alex.  Her sister, Virginia passed recently.

She was loved by all she met because of her warm heart and caring disposition.  Althrough her fight, she never turned her back on anyone and continued to be the same "good neighbor" she had always been.  Each of us takes something different from her, just by having her in our lives.  It is not often that you meet someone who truly touches your life and makes a difference.  We are blessed to have her, especially as our mother, our grandmother, our aunt, our friend and we thank  God every day that we had her, even though we wish we had had her longer.  She looks down upon us and smiles.  We know we'll see her in the morning.  Sleep well our darling.

" Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am in a thousand winds that blow, I am the softly falling snow. I am the gentle showers of rain, I am the fields of ripening grain. I am in the morning hush, I am in the graceful rush Of beautiful birds in circling flight, I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom, I am in a quiet room. I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there. I do not die."
